7. Decoupage Plaid & Botanical Ceramic Coasters
Ceramic tile coasters made with decorative napkins and decoupage medium mimic high-end printed tiles at a fraction of the manufacturing cost.
- Materials: Inexpensive white ceramic tiles (4×4 inch), decorative autumn napkins (gingham, plaid, botanical illustrations), Mod Podge, felt backing pads, and waterproof clear sealant.
- Production Tip: Separate the printed top ply of the napkin carefully before applying it to the adhesive-covered tile. Seal thoroughly with a waterproof acrylic spray so condensation from hot mugs won’t damage the finish.
- Profit Potential: Very High margins. Basic tiles cost very little at hardware stores.
